Lien, in its simplest definition, is the term used to denote any charge or duty imposed against an item or property as security for payment of a debt or some other obligation.

There are certain liens that can complicate your asset protection planning. This is one of the ways that creditors can have a take on your assets. In order to know how a certain lien can affect your asset or property, it is crucial that you have a thorough understanding of the different types of liens available out there.

Liens can either be consensual, statutory or judicial liens.

Consensual liens are those types of liens that are substantiated by a contract between the creditor and the debtor. These are the liens in which you voluntarily consent to whenever you take out a loan or any other advance of credit that you require.

A homebuyer will agree to a bank taking a security interest in a home before a mortgage can be obtained. A consensual lien is also created when a cart buyer opts for car financing available at the car dealer. The car purchased secures the car buyer’s obligation to pay for the property.

Failing to do so may mean that the purchased property will be taken away from him. Examples of consensual liens are mortgages, car loans, and security interests in banks.

Statutory liens meanwhile are those that are ideally occurring in lieu of established statutes or as stated by common law. Non-consensual liens give the creditor the right to repayment security of a debt by imposing a lien on a property or an item once there is a determined relationship between the debtor and the creditor.

Sometimes, creditors make use statutory liens to get at your assets to satisfy a debt by the operation of state or federal laws. Examples of this type of lien include tax liens and mechanic’s liens.

A tax lien is placed upon properties by local, state or federal government as stated in established statutes as security for delinquent taxes, including property and estate taxes.

A mechanic’s lien will arise when a party fails to pay a contractor or mechanic for services rendered or work performed on a certain property or car. This usually occurs when a contractor installs a furnace on a home or a mechanic does some repairs on a car.

Failure of payment for the services rendered will give the contractor or the mechanic a security interest on the property. If the owner decides to sell the property, the contractor or mechanic will have a share on the proceeds of the sale to pay for the debt incurred.

Of the three type of liens, those imposed by a judicial ruling is the most dangerous for the asset or property owner but is also one in which an informed owner may be able to eliminate.

This type of lien is created when a judicial court grants a creditor an interest on the debtor’s property after a judicial ruling. This lien can arise in several circumstances.

An example would be if a negligent driver injures someone in an accident, it will follow that the injured party would likely sue the driver for damages.

In some instances that the driver’s insurance would not cover for the damages, a judicial lien may be placed upon the negligent driver’s property as a claim for payment to the injured person. The judgment on the lawsuit filed will provide for the basis of the lien.

If the debt is not paid, the injured party or the judgment creditor can seek the enforcement of the judgment. This can be done by garnishing wages, seizing a bank account or placing a lien on the negligent driver’s property.

This lien is the first step in the process that will consummately end in the sale of the property in order to pay for the damages.

A judicial lien cannot be imposed on a ruling or judgment based upon a pre-existing ruling as in the case of a judgment on a mortgage foreclosure. This understanding will greatly help the property owner in exempting his property from possible acquisition by the creditor.

One of the greatest television comedies in history, Cheers is an absolute must see for anyone who’s ever had a regular hangout “where everybody knows your name”. The shows centers itself around a friendly neighborhood Boston bar named Cheers. The bar is owned by former Boston Red Sox relief pitcher Sam Malone (Ted Danson). Sam has two employees - bartender Ernie “Coach” Pantusso (Nicholas Colasanto) and waitress Carla Tortelli (Rhea Perlman). Things are great for Sam until he hires a jilted graduate student named Diane Chambers (Shelley Long) to waitress in the bar. Regular barflies Norm Peterson (George Wendt) and Cliff Clavin (John Ratzenberger) round out a strong supporting cast…

The Cheers DVD offers a number of hilarious episodes including the season premiere “Give Me A Ring Sometime” in which the gang at Cheers first meets Diane when she spends the day in the bar waiting for her fiancé, distinguished Boston University professor Sumner Sloane, to return from meeting with his ex-wife (where he hopes to retrieve his grandmother’s ring for Diane). Sumner never returns, resulting in Diane accepting a job at the bar… Other notable episodes from Season 1 include “Sam At Eleven” in which Sam’s ex-teammate turned sportscaster Dave Richards (Fred Dryer) arrives at the bar to interview Sam for the eleven o’clock news only to end up ditching him for John McEnroe, and “Pick a Con… Any Con” in which Coach is being played by a conman, prompting Sam to enlist the help of Harry the Conman (Harry Anderson) in order to get Coach’s money back. Only Coach has a few surprises of his own…

So people believe you can predict a major weather events on our Earth by using astrology. In some cases this may be true because certain parts of the year the stars will be in a certain spots and certain times of the year we know in fact contain certain types of whether and certain types of major category storms such as; hurricanes, cyclones, typhoons, waterspouts, gale force winds, tornadoes and micro-bursts.

We know simply from watching the Weather Channel and the NOAA satellite pictures that adverse weather such as a thunder and lightning storm do occur during certain types of the year and the storms would be in a certain place during those certain times of the year. However, if the weather is significantly cloudy or overcast you would not be able to see the stars. Therefore it might be very difficult to predict the weather for looking at the stars.

However with astrology if you know that date, then you know where the stars are and you still perhaps can predict the weather or the average type of whether that you should expect during that time of the year and a particular location where you are.

Hurricane prediction by astrology may not be perfect, but indeed it could be close and close would be good for islanders, tribes and those preparing themselves for potentially violent storms on a Caribbean Island or along the coastline in the Gulf of Mexico. In any case this is something you should consider in 2006.

(Chinese Solar Year : 04.02.2006 to 03.02.2007)

Flying Stars or Fei Xing is a powerful form of Feng Shui derived from the famous Xuan Kong Fengshui. It is an Analysis of the Five Elements and Star Combinations (representing certain energy patterns) that occupy every building. Each new year these annual stars change, Qi (energy) shifts happen, bringing good and bad energy with them - thereby producing different effects.

In February 2004 all the Feng Shui Energy Patterns underwent huge transformations to the NewAge of Land Luck called Period 8 Energy Cycles. It means that a large scale evolution of the human race with completely new energy dynamics has started. The significance is that the new, vibrant energies of Period 8 impacts on the buildings differently than before and energies that were previously activated now need to be remedied, in order to reduce any bad effects from the past influences.

The Flying Stars Chart or the 9-Grid Meteor Plan for the Bing-Xu, Year of the Yang Red Fire Dog has been plotted and the effects of their energy patterns are analyzed. The analysis also contains suggested remedies/cures for reducing the impact of negative energy and recommended enhancers for increasing and improving upon the beneficial energy.

For the remedies/enhancers to be effective, they should be cleansed, energised, blessed and programmed not only for the particular individual/family but also for the specific purpose/problem. They should also be placed in the indicated location.

The direction in which your main door lies is very important to any form of Geomancy, including Fengshui & Vaastu. The primary reason for this is that the air currents and energy flow in and flow out through the mouth of the main door. Thus you receive positive energy for the year, if the main door faces a direction of auspicious stars or meteors (powerful energy bodies) and receive negative energy for the year, if the main door faces a direction of evil stars or meteors. In case negative impacts are forecast, you can simply offset the negative energy by installing the recommended remedies there. Any or all of these remedies can be reused for the coming years, the only thing is that they should be repositioned according to the new year.

Please note that the effects may be felt in varying degrees depending upon the exact compass degree of the main door.

ANNUAL FORECAST & REMEDIES FOR FLATS/HOMES/OFFICES/FACTORIES WITH MAIN DOOR FACING SOUTH EAST :

The Black Star # 2 brings you arguments, misunderstandings, disputes, gossips, stress, food poisoning and gastrointestinal problems, respiratory problems, gynaecological problems and sickness to many in the family. The womenfolk will suffer the most. Even your best neighbours will turn hostile. Hang a large sized natural, original Chinese Wou-Lou near the maindoor and in the bedroom.

Married couple will tend to have more disagreements and disharmony will prevail. Install the combined statue of Dragon & Phoenix or a pair of pink Mandarin Ducks in the bedroom. Minimise red and yellow coloured clothing, lighting, etc. inside the home. Alternatively place a Rooster figurine near the main door.

If you have a Rabbit or Dragon (according to the Chinese Astrology Zodiac Animal Signs) in your family, you may have to take special remedial measure to avoid seperation.

The Year Breaker Tsui Po which moves directly opposite to that of Tai Sui, corresponds to South East this year. This energy body too, should not be violated. Do not install any moving objects like Fish Aquariums or Water Fountains here, this year. Do not dig, construct, renovate, redecorate or repair this year near your main door. It is also not advisable to sit or sleep for extended periods, near your main door. If you do any of these to violate the Year Breaker, you will be inviting more accidents and health mishaps for your family members. If you had already started any of these work last year and would definitely have to continue to complete in this year, then hang a golden, metal Wou-Lou and a Wind Chyme near the main door.

If you have a secondary door that is not facing SE, then use it for this year. Otherwise, It is recommended to place an icon of Kuan Kung or Three Generations Dragon Head Turtle or a pair of Pi-Yau near your main door, facing SE, as even opening and closing the door is considered as “violating” the Tsui Po.

Display the “Safety Talisman for 2006″ in the North West sector and carry a miniature version of it always.

Door Mat Colour for the Main Door : Grey or Blue (on the outside), with 6 I-Ching coins taped under it.

COMMON MINIMUM REMEDY FOR ALL BUILDINGS FOR 2006 :

To minimise damage due to gossiping and rumours, arguments and disputes, avoid the colours green and blue in the center of your home. Do not place any moving water features like fish aquarium or water fountains here. Display 8 red roses without thorns and leaves in the center of your home/office/building and light up a small red coloured bulb which will burn continuously, 24/7. This is applicable for all buildings, irrespective of the direction of the main doors.

When we first beginning to meditate, there are many
habits that we fall into that prevent us from achieving
a peaceful, state to make any real progress. There
are habits of worry, restlessness, judging
ourselves or our practice of meditation, excessive
movement which can become distracting,
overeating, overindulging in smoking or drinking,
complaining, and finding fault. There also are
certain habits that we can do to assist our mind to
get into a place of meditation, and to begin to
make some progress in your practice. Here are
some hints:

Consistency of Time: It is better to meditate at the
same time every day. It is also usually easier to
meditate early in the morning because the Earth is
more still, your mind is quieter and the day-to-day
activities have not started yet. But if you can’t do it
early in the morning, be consistence with the time that
you meditate during your day, and do this every day
if you are able.

Consistency of Place: It is also beneficial to have the
same place, so that your mind can make recognition
of familiar things that are around and begin to feel
secure there. The mind is like a small child that needs
routine. Chose a certain corner of a room or room of
your house that you will consider your meditation
space. If you cannot leave out your props each day,
collect them and then with each time you can display
and use them in that space once again. Consistency
of time and place assists the mind with that feeling of
safety and security.

Familiar Props: Having the same things that you
use consistently helps greatly in your meditation
process. Again it is a sense of trust, safety and
familiar that aids the mind to become quiet. A
suggestion of some props includes your choice
of prayer cloth, which can be draped over your person.
Drape cloth for an alter that you set up. An alter,
or table that will have all of your meditation items on it,
a bell or chime, or Tibetan bowls to announce the
beginning and end of your meditation, prayer beads
or mala beads, inspirational books, or prayer books,
candle or small light, incense, a mediation pillow,
mat, or roll, special pictures of landscapes or saints or
spiritual leaders, or special items like a feather, or
blessed materials, shells, small stones etc, small
tickless alarm clock.

Creating a Routine of Actions: In creating habits for
meditation, a routine says to your mind that it is time
to meditate and get quiet. The routine might include,
first a preparation of purification. This could include a
bath, or simply washing your face and your hands with
cool water, and then patting your face dry prior to
starting your meditation. Next an acknowledgement
to your higher self, or god, is appropriate. You could
do this by putting your hands together in prayer
position over your heart, which indicates you are
centering your heart, and opening your heart, then lift
your hands to your forehead, to acknowledge your
third eye or center of perception, and then bring your
hands back down to touch your heart. It is an indication
that you are coming back to your center and that is
where you will begin your meditation. It is also an
intention of purification of heart and mind. After
purifying yourself physically and mentally, you might
chose to light an incense, set out your props, and light
a candle. You could ring a chime or a bell and let the
sound resonate in your ears and through your body.
If you enjoy meditation with music it is appropriate to
turn on your music softly prior to your beginning. Next
you may begin your breathing to center your mind, and
cover yourself with your prayer shawl or blanket.

Meditation is the stillness of the mind and a
reconnection with your inner spirit. It could be a
time of reflection, and a period of question and
answers, or simple a time of less thoughts to offer
you peace. Here are some tools to help you get to
that quiet place.

First for the novice, an appropriate duration of time
is 5-10 minutes. Do not overtax yourself when you
first begin. As you progress the duration of time can
increase to 10-30 or 40 minutes, or for an hour or
more. When meditating, we try to shut out the
outside stimulus and force the mind inward.
This is one reason that you try to sit as still
as possible in the session. You are discarding all
physical distraction and sensations. It is important to
sit in the most comfortable position that you are able
so that you will be able to sit still for a period of time.
Prior to beginning your meditation, you could stretch
your neck and move your head up and down and to

either side, stretch your back a little and your shoulders.
When you prepare in this way it is more likely that you
will not be distracted by physical tension.

As you begin to meditate watch and observe your
thoughts without any judgments or condemnation.
When you have observed your thoughts for a while,
begin to call the mind back like a little child. “We are
breathing, we are letting go of these thoughts now.”
Refocus on the breath coming in through your nose again,
if you become disturbed or distracted. If you are fearful be
assured that nothing here can hurt you, this is a discovery
of your inner self and a return to your TRUE nature.
Once you have become accustomed to meditating you
will be more comfortable with your true nature and
realize that you are created to be naturally peaceful, and
joyful, and that is the natural state of your being.

There are different techniques to get you to that silent
and still place. Breathing is very important for trans-
porting you to that place, a sound mantra like OM i
s helpful, a guided meditation, an open eye meditation
that lets you have a focus on one particular object,
point, or picture or candle can immediately take you to the

still place, focusing on music, or particular elements of
the music can accomplish that stillness. You can chose
one or more of these techniques to get you there.

You could also have a meditation of questions and
answers. It is important to write down the questions that
you wish to ask before you begin, so that there is a flow and a
direction of the meditation process. Have a note pad so that
you can write down the answers that come to you.
Usually it is the first answer that comes to you. Write that
down, even it you do not understand the reference. Write
down everything until it feels complete and then move
on to the next question. The question and answer period
may go on for a few meditation sessions so do not become
discouraged if you don’t get all of the answers immediately.

Also do not judge yourself or call yourself inadequate
if you are not getting the responses that you want.
Mediation takes practice and intention to do it well.
Also one needs to become accustomed to how s/he
receives that information personally.

Ring the bell, to signal the conclusion of your meditation
session, or turn off your alarm when it rings. After the time
is up and your meditation has ended, begin to stretch
and loosen your neck and shoulders, and your back and
perhaps your arms and legs. Breathe big breaths in to
bring you from that deep place. Do not force yourself
beyond your time that you told yourself would be the
amount of time for that day. There are other days to
extend the time.

Meditation takes a lot of practice and time.
There are many mental and physical obstacles to over-
come. The mind is always active and always
condemning. It judges you harshly without cause,
it holds you guilty, it keeps you in a fearful place,
it believes that it is under attack, it says empathically
that you can never change, it is full of resistance
and self loathing. The mind never speaks of
your true nature, which is joy, love, compassion
for all creatures, kindness, deep wisdom,
abundance, and the unlimited free flowing capacity.

It is also helpful to keep a journal of your
spiritual progress and your meditations.
Which techniques work best for you, how often
do you get to a still place, is there anything that
came up that you did not expect, are you
causing yourself stress in a process that is
designed to bring more peace and stillness for
you, are you judging yourself? Can you make
a change to comfort yourself, are you receiving
your answers during a Q & A period.

A Note On Meditation And Breathing.
Breathing can start out big and full and then
gradually become diminished and more silent.
It is part of your focus that leads you to that still
place. When you are meditating you are letting
the mind rest on a new focal point other than a
million thoughts of worry, anxiety, fear and what
you will do in the next moment or the evening.
Remember a funnel, it has a great capacity
coming into the top but it is coming down through
a progressively narrower opening, until it passes
through only a tiny opening. The same actions
are occurring when you are limiting your thoughts
to one or more focal points. Letting go of
distracting thoughts, worry, and fear, and focusing
on less and less until you are at a still place.

Focus: Earlier I told you that there are steps
to get you to that still place, the focal points that
draw your mind into a still and quiet place. One
focus is the present moment, only this moment is
what you are focusing on at this time. Another
focus is the steady breathing coming into your
physical form, or the OM sounds resonating
through your mind and body, still other focuses
include the elements of the music like running
water that you are training your ears to pick out,
or the music itself, in a guided meditation you are
letting images form in your mind and that
becomes a focal point, and in an open eye
meditation you are letting your eyes become trained
on a physical point that you can see, and gradually
you let your mind come to an internal focal point.
All of the focal points are designed to assist you to
get into the resting place of the mind where the
mind becomes secondary. When the mind is
resting and not complaining, condemning or
judging then you become aware of your unlimited
nature, of your gentleness, and divine essence.
It is a place of realization of your TRUE SELF and
in knowing and remember that you become
so comfortable with your expanding and unlimited
nature that you only wish to rest in that place.

My suggestions to you are practice, get relaxed,
get settled, don’t judge, do not compare yourself
to others, allow yourself to learn and progress at
your own pace, encourage yourself, and reassure
yourself when you need to, and keep on
practicing and challenging yourself out of your
comfort zone. Do not listen to the mind’s
condemnation of you. It is only false ramblings.
Reward yourself for your effort. Be good to yourself.

For those people who are really dedicated to getting over their anxiety, meditation can be the key.

The are literally thousands of types of meditation, and many books, CDs and Videos out there which will tell you how to meditate. I’m going to ask you to forget nearly all of those.

All meditation will relax you, but that in itself is not a solution to anxiety, panic attacks, and phobias. Most meditations seem to take you away from the present moment and take your concentration away from your body. Such escapism may bring temporary relief from anxiety but will not free you from it, and meditating through anxious moments is hard.
Enter Mindfulness meditation.

So, why is Mindfulness Meditation so good for getting over anxiety? There are a few reasons: firstly, through practicingg mindfulness meditation you learn to be in the present moment. That might sound odd, after all we are all in the present moment all the time - how else could it be? In fact, anxiety, panic, and phobias do not really happen in the present moment. Think about it a second. They happen when you concentrate on bad memories from the past and catastrophic predictions about the future. Mindfulness meditation recognises this and allows you to stay in the present, where everything is just as it should be.

Secondly, with mindfulness meditation you stay in your body and become aware of your body. You become aware of all the tension and stress you are holding in the moment throughout your body. This allows your mind to accept, and not misinterpret tension as a signal to start panicking or feeling anxious.

Thirdly, and perhaps most importantly of all, mindfulness meditation teaches you to be aware of your thoughts as passing entities which are present in a given moment and then fade as all thoughts do. When you learn to see anxious and catastrophic thoughts in this light you are much better placed to chose how to react to them, or indeed whether to react to them at all.

After diligent practice, the mindfulness meditator can decide to let his/her catastrophic thoughts be, to not react to tension, and to focus on what is happening in the moment. The completely different outlook on life which the meditator nurtures revolves around acceptance and understanding, not reaction and fear. In terms of anxiety and panic, the results can be spectacular.

I am an ex-anxiety sufferer campaigning against expensive gimmicks targeted at vulnerable anxiety sufferers by cynical businessmen. I set up http://www.anxiety2calm.com to examine various therapies, techniques and gimmicks sold as a cure for anxiety, panic attacks and phobias. I also have sections on meditation, EFT, TFT, Journey Therapy, and much much more.

I have gone to a lot of European ski mountains e.g. Alpe d’Huez, Grand Massif, Avoriaz and Risoul, however through all the group’s ski holidays Chamonix Mont Blanc is certainly our most popular town to go for winter ski holidays.

The place of birth of European alpine history and home to the magnificent Monte Bianco - at 4807m European Unions’ loftiest summit - Chamonix France boasts a brilliant historical snow track record, a lengthy ski season (Nov-May), matchless extreme mountain telemarking, and views horizons to die for. Moreover Chamonix France has an world renown as having just about the most dramatic, intriguing, and elating boarding available anyplace in the globe.

Chamonix is extensive and every bit as befuddling, and this is before one even reckon the adjoining ski fields; for example Les Trois Vallees, Super Besse, Les Menuires, Chatel and Les Arcs.

The Mont Blanc Unlimited ski pass includes nine Chamonix town, and twelve territorial ski domains; with terrain up to 3842 metres, over 270 skiing lifts, and 780 kilometers of ski runs - with the bulk of the skiing towns higher up than 2040 metres. They caters for each standard from novices as well as professional skiers. See the ski mountains page for up to date look at the main resorts: La Tania, Le Tour, Araches-la-Frasse, Chastreix-Sancy, Bessans and La Chavanette.

It’s pretty obvious that the ancient Druids used several forms of meditation. That the Druids were able to still and control their minds is unquestioned, but the techniques they used have apparently been lost to the ravages of time and the lack of written records.

As with much of the re-creation of the Druid paths, we find ourselves turning to other cultures and methodologies to fill in the gaps. Before the cries of “Untraditional” become too loud I think I should point out that meditation and mind control/self awareness are universal to the human being. Everyone who’s ever lived on this planet has had the ability to access their inner energies and power to varying degrees.
Today we find ourselves without the social framework of the ancient Druids. Rather than a single unified entity we find that our Tribe is scattered to the winds without a common language or concept of what it means to be a Druid. It’s a period of creation and re-creation and thanks to the easy availability of printed sources and the internet we find that once again we can begin to study and put together systems for training Druids.

Meditation and energy work are areas where many of the modern Druid Circles seem to be lacking. Anyone who’s ever been to any sort of ritual can attest to the feel of the energy that rises during the ritual. As I dabbled in and then studied energy work I discovered that it was much easier to feel when the ritual energy actually formed and then began to rise. One of the problems that I’ve found when attending various Pagan and Wiccan rituals is the lack of focus on what to actually DO with that energy. I recently attended a very nice Wiccan Solstice ritual. The energy rose very nicely into a crescendo towards the end of the ritual and hung there expectantly. Then the ritual ended with the energy still active. After the ‘end’ of the ritual everyone in the circle kept standing there for a few moments, intuitively feeling the energy and reluctant to leave it.

Many Pagans seem to view meditation as interesting and cool, but not really a part of their path. I couldn’t disagree more. Rituals and spells are all about creating a focused energy and then sending that energy to DO something. The ability to clear ones mind and sense and feel energy at an advanced level can not only enhance the energy that you create, but it can improve your ability to focus it and use it.

In my upcoming articles on Druidry I’ll include several exercises for feeling the energy of the natural world around us and even drawing that energy into ourselves and using it. Before you get to that point, however, it’s important to be able to feel your own energy and use it. Rather than re-invent the wheel my purpose with this article is to point out the necessity of using meditation and focused energy. The next few articles in this series will show you exactly how to do that.

“God called the expanse ’sky’” (Genesis 1:8).

When our sons were little I used to take them down to a pond near our house and let them play there. When I felt it was safe enough, I would lie back for a few seconds and look at the sky. I’ve always thought that looking at the expanse somehow put hurries and worries back where they belonged. The sky was boundless and swallowed the minutiae and minutes into the larger picture of God’s enduring love and concern for every single part and pang of life. After a time the endless diapers and dishes and dirt didn’t seem so terribly important after all, not in the sunlight of the slowly moving and lofty white clouds.

I even used to look for messages! Clouds have always fascinated me, and they take some unusual shapes that can stir the imagination. One of my favorite psalms is Psalm 104, particularly verse 3: “He makes the clouds his chariot…” When I would cloud-gaze, I would see a chariot and take off–and then the little ones would quickly bring me back to unadorned reality. But even those few seconds of fantasy helped me to face stark life again.

Sometimes a storm cloud darkens our horizon. But I’ve noticed through the years that the most beautiful sunrises are behind the darkest clouds! Many times I have observed the sun rising on stormy mornings and been awed by the aura and I’m again reminded of that precious promise to Noah in Genesis 9:13, “I have set my rainbow in the clouds…”

I recommend looking to the sky when we lose sight of priorities. Somehow a glance at the universe of sky whittles reality down a bit to just how important something is. When life and its demands, both its petties and profundities, overwhelms us, glancing at the sky brings peace, serenity, a feeling that when we bring our eyes back to earth, to the horizontal view of things, all will be in place again. Vertical gives us a perpendicularly new view of our life and its abundant blessings as well as responsibilities.
