Hetty the Desktop Hoover

Posted on Friday 18 September 2009

Hetty the Hoover is very similar to the Henry version except this is a female. It’s been about 30 years since this product was first introduced and has quickly become a novelty item. Not only is this a novelty item it has opened up a new market for collectors. Since it’s now a collector’s item the demand for these vacuums will not be going away anytime soon. Just one look at the vacuum and holding it in your hand there is no way you would disagree.

Like I said these are a collector’s item and most the time will not be used at all. But if you have the urge to try it out you will like it even more. This tiny vacuum is ideal for hard to reach spots such as the back of kitchen cabinets. Of course it was made to be a desktop vacuum since it does have a USB attachment. I would find it quite hard to be carry around your computer so that Hetty desktop Hoover will have power just to clean the carpet. Just in case that is what you want to use it for there is also a AA battery version that you can buy. I would highly recommend just using it for the purpose that it is sold for or you risk the possibility of breaking it.

These miniature vacuum cleaners are probably smaller than you think. It only stands about 22 cm tall and 11.5 cm wide. Due to its small size it only weighs a whopping .1 kg. I’ve seen two different versions of the vacuum; the only difference I noticed was how many batteries it took to power it. For some reason some of the vacuums take two batteries while some require three. Apparently the three batteries are for an industrial strength desktop vacuum.

Anyway you look at it this is a perfect gift for a wide variety of people. The best person to get this gift for would be that neat freak that always nags you about cleaning. In addition to that children that love to help around the house and mimic their parents while cleaning would have a real kick out of this.
