Virgin Media Launches New Laptop with New 50Mb Broadband Service

Posted on Monday 27 July 2009

Virgin Media, the internet service provider, is in a celebratory mood, as it has just completed the upgradation of its next generation network. The upgradation process of this project lasted for a period of 18 months. With this upgradation, its network capabilities have tripled, and it now aims to offer up to 50Mb speeds to over 12 million homes.

Virgin Media is celebrating this occasion by reducing its 50Mb service prices. The customers who opt for the express fibre-optic broadband will be charged £38. But the same service would cost £28 if the customers opt for a phone line along with the broadband connection.

One of the constant demands of customers who use video conferencing and multiplayer gaming is higher upstream speeds. People, who work at home, are also on the look-out for such services. Virgin Media is looking to cater to these demands and is planning to start a trial to test a range of upload speeds, some of which can reach up to 10Mb.

Virgin Mobile Broadband has also come out with a new branded laptop on the occasion of the completion of its network upgrade. The laptop, which has been christened as the ‘Freedom’ netbook, will have a collection of installed software and is custom-built to suit the new high speeds of 50Mb. Luckily for both new and old customers, these laptops can be procured for free, only if they opt for one of the dedicated Virgin Media packages.

Virgin Media is also working on its next project, which is a trial of broadband speeds of up to 200Mb in Ashford, Kent.
